I have recently completed a Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems Degree at Monash, focusing my
studies on Game Programming and Design.
Prior to that I was studying Computer Science, but after taking a couple of electives
focused on games and games programming I felt that my interests resided more towards
games programming rather than the heavy technical programming of computer science,
thusly I changed my course, and am quite glad I did so, having found the gaming subjects
far more interesting and relevant to what I would like to do in a career.
Prior to University I also studied Programming at TAFE and have a Diploma of Software development
under my belt.
Outside of my studies I will often have some project going where I am tinkering with a game modding
tool or doing some programming for a game idea or tool in my spare time.
I also spend some spare time role-playing or tinkering with role-playing systems.
I am looking at getting into games because I have a passion for games and programming and feel I can
add to the development of games, while, hopefully adding some unique perspectives or outlooks to increase
the chances a game I work on reaching it's potential.
I find programming can be an extensively rewarding pastime, especially when I see what I have (or have
helped) to produce and/or what I have learned in the process. Like wise it's not all charm and fancies
either, it can be rather frustrating at times, and often can take up long hours to get things just right,
though these frustrations can make the end reward that much more satisfying.
I have been playing games for quite a few years and usually try to spend some time every day playing a game.
I first stared out developing games by creating a mod using the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Forgotten Realms
Unlimited Adventures toolkit. Which is an old games system often referred to the 'gold box' series that included
games from the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms settings.
Since then I have worked on mods using toolsets, some such as Neverwinter Nights, Unreal Editor and more recently
tinkering with Oblivion.
I have also done some work tinkering on games in flash using Action script and have recently got into XNA,
an Xbox 360 development platform.
